Gloucester – April 12, 2023 Optimas, the leading global industrial distributor in fastening and supply chain solutions is today delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with multiple British Touring Car Championship race winner Árón Taylor-Smith for the 2023 season.

Motorsport is in the DNA of Optimas, with five locations alone in the UK the company is forging a strong name in British Motorsport and a 2023 British Touring Car Championship program with Taylor-Smith sees the iconic company enter the pinnacle of the sport within the nation. With a new season comes a fresh challenge for Taylor-Smith as one of the pivotal moves of the 2023 off season was the Irishman’s switch to join CarStore Power Maxed Racing, and the 33-year-old has spent recent weeks getting to grips with his new Vauxhall Astra as he prepares for a ninth year in the UK’s premier tin-top series. The fan favourite has accumulated twenty podiums during his successful career in the BTCC and to this day remains the only Irishman to win a race in the championship in over thirty years. The thirty-three-year-old debuted in the series in 2012 and won a race in his first season, immediately marking him as one to watch for the future. Taylor-Smith continued in the BTCC for a subsequent five years before taking a sabbatical to focus on a GT program throughout Europe.

Taylor-Smith commented: “I absolutely love the synergy that exists between Optimas and a motorsport program. The company is built around improving efficiency within an organisation which echoes exactly what we are trying to achieve each race weekend. One of the first points that we discussed in our initial meeting was the mantra of ‘teamwork’ within Optimas and I instantly knew that working together would offer a host of opportunities, not just for Optimas but for my entire partner network.”

Whilst Optimas are represented worldwide, the UK division are spearheading the marketing program centered around working directly with Taylor-Smith for the 2023 British Touring Car Championship. The nationwide coverage of the BTCC offers unrivalled brand exposure, both domestically in the UK but also on an international basis as the championship exceeded over nineteen million viewers last season alone. Optimas will benefit from being integrated into Taylor-Smith’s BTCC partner program and capitalise on unique content creation whilst also having access to the VIP hospitality on race weekends.

Taylor-Smith commented: “I really am looking forward to representing Optimas over the course of the 2023 season and I can already see this being a very long-term partnership. We have tailored a program to deliver on a number of key metrics that were imperative to Optimas, from brand exposure to content creation and I have no doubt that we will succeed both on and off the track this season. I can’t thank everyone at Optimas for their support going into this season and I’m really looking forward to seeing the team trackside over the course of the year.”

The 2023 British Touring Car Champions kicks off in a matter of weeks at Donington Park for the first race weekend of the season on April 22nd & 23rd. Taylor-Smith is in the depth of his preseason testing program as the CarStore PowerMax racing team continue to fine tune their Vauxhall Astra ahead of the opening race weekend. The BTCC is widely regarded as the nation’s most widely followed motorsport championship as the series ventures the length & breadth of the country throughout the season. The iconic Optimas logo will be seen on Taylor-Smith’s helmet as he goes to battle against the nation’s best racing drivers.

Tom Bryan commented: “We are delighted to bring the Optimas name into the British Touring Car Championship with Árón. His energy and enthusiasm is infectious and we instantly knew that this would be a great for our company during our initial meeting. We really can’t wait to get the opportunity to support Árón this season and look forward to cheering him on trackside throughout the season.”

Be sure to keep an eye on both the Optimas and Taylor-Smith’s social media channels over the next few weeks to be kept up to date on all things BTCC related ahead of the first race weekend.
