Gloucester, UK – March 15, 2023 – Optimas OE Solutions, a global manufacturer and distributor of precision-made fasteners and supply chain solutions have announced their partnership with Warwick Racing, supporting them in building both an IC car and an electric vehicle.
The Warwick Racing team boasts 21 years of racing experience and 7 generations of IC cars, with their focus having recently shifted to EV. The Warwick Racing team is made up of students from a wide range of departments at the University of Warwick, from design engineering to marketing and business development, whose work on the team’s projects contribute to their overall degree qualifications.
One key event in which Warwick Racing will be testing their cars is in this year’s Formula Student UK Race. Formula Student UK is the biggest formula student event in the world, drawing in over 1000 students from a wide range of educational institutes.
Having raced a 1st generation electric car at Silverstone in 2021 – the second-best EV on the track – Warwick Racing’s goal this year is to build and race a 2nd/3rd generation electric vehicle that will bring them into in the top 10 teams and reach a podium place for EV.
With decades of experience supplying to the automotive industry and an increased involvement in motorsport, Optimas will be providing the Warwick Racing team with engineering support to assist their EV racing ambitions, imparting light-weighting, material selection and standardisation expertise, as well as BOM analysis expertise to reduce complexity and cost.
In more recent years, the company have also become an advocate for EV technologies and sustainable practices, working with a number of electric vehicle manufacturers and establishing an ambitious sustainability roadmap.
